Seamus Murphy

Seamus Murphy, (1907 – October 2, 1975) was an Irish sculptor and stone carver, best known for designing the Church of the AnnunciationBlackpool, Cork City.Examples of his unique carvings of statues, gravestones, monuments and plaques can be seen around Cork and Ireland.

Murphy was born near MallowCounty Cork. Having left school at the age of twelve, he worked as an apprentice sculptor and eventually became an RHA professor of sculpture. His studio/workshop was at Watercourse Road, Blackpool, Cork.
