Monday of the Fifth Week of Lent.

We need to recover a living sense of the goodness and tenderness of God, rather as a loving parent comforts a child waking from the grip of a bad dream. The parent holds their child closely and dearly.’Don’t be afraid, don’t  be afraid, I’m here. This is also how god speaks to us. with tenderness. God uses the comforting language of love. God comes to us, as he came to Eligah as a sweet breeze. The original test says’ in the sound of silence and so it is in the silence of prayer, of carving our time to be still and know that God is God that too hear this tender loving voice of the Father. In turn then we learn to be tender hearted and kind  toward those we encounter during our day.

Lord in silence and prayer we are embraced by your love. Teach up to show mercy, be forgiving and kind and thus reveal by our witness the tender loving heart of the Father.

Tuesday 8th April

God is calling su to be evangelizers, witnesses to Christ. This task is not reserved for bishops, priests, deacons, religious or lay people employed full time in the mission, alone. No God is calling each and every one of us. We cannot postpone or put off this vital mission for longer, we must find ways to communicate Jesus wherever we are. Daunted? Overwhelmed? Feeling under qualified and out of your depth? Most of us feel that way but this is why God sent the Holy Spirit to lead us, guide us and fill with his courage, clarify and confidence. What do we share? How God has helped us, how faith in God gives us strenght and great joy. and how faith makes such a difference in our lives.

Lord, teach me to say with the great apostle St Paul, not that I have already obtained this, or am already perfect, but I press on th make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
