Thrusday 20th March 2014

Pope Francis, echoing the teaching of the Church, has a radical and preferential love for the poor. Sometimes what he says and writes can make for uncomfortable hearing and reading. For example, ‘I prefer a Church which is bruised, hurting and dirty that a Church which is unhealthy from being confined and from clinging to its own security.’ What troubles and disturbs us? What are the important issues in our lives, our homes, our parishes? Is it the fact that so many are living without the strength, light and consolation born of friendship with Jesus Christ? It is the fact that many are leading empty, lonely and meaningless lives in search of God and the Consolation of Christ?

Lord change me that I may live no longer fro myself but for him who died on the cross for me and in love and service of others.
