Pope Francis’ vision for the Church is very much it being a church for the poor but also one which is kind and merciful walking alongside others, not  in judgement or condemnation, but in friendship, solidarity and fellowship. Today we celebrate the feast day  of St  Joseph. A good and righteous man, on discovering Mary was pregnant and to save her from public disgrace he had in mind to divorce her quietly. Little did he realize, that what was conceived in her was from the Holy Spirit. We too give birth to the Spirit of God in our own lives when we listen to the prompting and leading of the Spirit who urges us to reach out to others.

God, Father of mercy, teach me to be merciful and kind, as you are, shining your light on everyone, the righteous and the unrighteous.
