A journey of prayer through Advent and Christmastide 2013

Isaiah 29:17-24

Erring spirits will learn wisdom and murmurs accept instruction.

Traditionally the season of Advent is a time to confess our sins and seek the grace of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We do this in order to know the mercy and forgiveness of God. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church expresses it so beautifully. Like a physician who probes the wound before treating it, God, by his word and by his Spirit casts a living light on sin. (CCC1848)

Repentance and confession are not always seen as a blessing but they really are because through them we receive the healing, forgiveness and mercy of God.

Heavenly Father, you draw us all to know the healing and renewal of repentance. Through them we can know with confidence the joy of our salvation.
